Apple has cut the price of 16 GB variant of iPhone 5C by 12 per cent or Rs 5,000. The smartphone is now available at Rs 36,999 at most online retail stores. The handset was launched along the premium iPhone 5s ahead of Diwali in India for Rs 41,900.

The iPhone 5s had was a big hit when its 16GB version was launched at Rs 53,500.

But iPhone 5c has been lagging behind in most of the markets where it was launched with iPhone 5s.

While pink iPhone 5c is available on the indiatimes shopping portal for Rs 37,500, the http://ift.tt/1epWPoB is selling the white 16GB iPhone 5c at Rs 37,199. However, some reports suggest that it has been selling for Rs 36,899 on few ecommerce portals.

With the price revision, iPhone 5c looks a good offer now. In November 2013, research firm Gartner had said the smartphone is 'too highly priced' for emerging markets such as India, and this can help iPhone 4s to become the volume driver in the country.

Even when it was launched in India, the phone was available via exchange or buyback schemes.

The price of the 32 GB variant of the phone remains unchanged at Rs 53,500. Official confirmation of the iPhone 5C price cut from the company is awaited.
