Microsoft pulls cringeworthy Apple parody video following backlash - Inquirer

Apple iPhone 5C green blue pink

SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft has pulled a video poking fun at Apple's iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C handsets, seemingly having realised that it was rubbish.

Microsoft has made no bones about mocking Apple recently, having slammed the firm on Twitter following its recent iPhone unveiling, and more recently offering iPad owners the chance to swap their tablet for a discounted Microsoft Surface alternative.

The firm also took to its Youtube channel to slam Apple's latest smartphone, among other things, where it released a fly on the wall style series of adverts that mocked the firm's rumoured iWatch, the colours of the new iPhone 5C and what it called the cappuccino company's "lack of innovation".

The video presented a spoofed brainstorming meeting at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, and showed two fake employees pitching ideas to a terrible Tim Cook lookalike. The cringeworthy skit saw the two overenthusiastic Apple staffers pitching colour ideas to the pretend boss - such as "vermillion" and "robin's egg" - in an unsubtle dig at Apple's new iPhone 5C, before the ad went on to mock the price of the smartphone.

The video in question was part of Microsoft's #timetoswitch campaign, in which it attempted to lure buyers away from iOS and Android and onto its Windows Phone mobile operating system. However, Microsoft failed to mention its own mobile operating system even once.

As you can probably tell from our description, the advertisement was not very funny and not many people liked it. It also received some terrible feedback on Youtube, which soon prompted Microsoft to take down the video.

Microsoft said in a statement, "The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down."

Thanks to some savvy Youtube users, who clearly predicted that Microsoft's cringeworthy clip wouldn't last long on the video website, you can watch the video below. ยต
