You no longer need an invite to buy OnePlus One - Times of India
Priced at Rs 21,999, OnePlus One's 64GB variant has the same features as its 16GB counterpart which sells at Rs 18,999, barring the difference in storage capacities. However, the OnePlus One 16GB version is available only in white colour, which distinguishes it from the gray-only 64GB variant of the same phone. The white model does not have the sandstone finish that the gray unit, and instead sports a plastic matte finish.
The chief rival of this smartphone in the Indian market is Xiaomi Mi 4.
OnePlus One sports top-of-the-line hardware specifications, including a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080P display, 13MP camera with F2.0 aperture and Sony image sensor, 5MP front camera, 3100mAh battery, 4G-support and and NFC. It runs CyanogenMod 12S, a custom aftermarket version of Android developed by Cyanogen.
The company earlier announced Oxygen OS, its own version of Android based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Carl Pei, co-founder and head of global, OnePlus, said, "By rigorously testing and improving our logistical structure over the last one year, we are far more confident that our processes have matured enough for us to handle the increased production and after-sales support that comes along with opening up sales. It's what we've been working towards, and now we're ready."
"This current shift from an invite system to a non-invite system is a big step, one from which we will learn a great deal before the OnePlus 2 launch, with invites, in the third quarter of this year", he added.
The company is also offering a flat 50% discount on accessories along with the purchase of the OnePlus One until April 23, 2015.
