Moto X, Moto E & Moto G 4G Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Available for Download - NewsHub.org

Motorola is preparing to release the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to its Moto X, Moto E and Moto G 4G line of products.

Originally, the company's first-generation devices were supposed to get the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop but Motorola decided to move forward with the latest version of Google's OS, according to the Fuse Joplin.

Motorola's first generation smartphones originally came with the Android 4.2 JellyBean. Users were then given the option to upgrade their OS to the Android 4.4 KitKat.

The next step for Motorola was to roll out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for its first generation smartphones. The company even conducted tests on the OS for its devices. However, David Schuster, the product manager of Motorola, explained that the company decided to skip it and proceed with the Android 5.1. Lollipop update instead, International Business Times reported.

According to the executive, Motorola made the move in order to deliver better service to its customers.

"As some of you might know, we've been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions," he wrote on his Google+ account. "In parallel we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google."

"Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1," Schuster added.

There are no official dates yet as to when users can begin upgrading their devices with the Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, Motorola has already conducted tests on the OS which means Moto X, Moto E and Moto G owners could expect to receive the update soon.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Google Play edition of the Moto G, on the other hand, was already released by Motorola. This means owners of this device can begin downloading the update.
