In a bid to get a maximum share of the data revolution happening in the country, Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) today announced the commercial roll-out of 3G Plus telecom network across all its circles becoming the latest among the telecom companies to tap aggressively into the emerging market.

The company, controlled by Russian conglomerate Sistema will be running the services on the third carrier or slot in the 800 Mhz spectrum band it won in an auction from the government. A company release noted the "network is based on Evolution-Data Optimised (EV-DO) Rev. B Phase II technology". This network is used to offer high speed data services.

Company CEO Dmitry Shukov said, "This roll out is all set to make MTS India the first telecom operator in India to provide ubiquitous 3G plus network coverage across all its nine circles of operations."

SSTL has operations in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh (West) and West Bengal.

Rival Vodafone is also expected to make an announcement to the effect this week.
