More rumors roll in about the next Sony Xperia handset, the i1 Honami. It looks like a camera-centric phone and will act as a stiff competitor to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom as well as the Nokia Lumia 1020 out in stores. More details about the new Sony phone including its pics, details of the rear camera and other specs have leaked to web now, evidently from the leak of an FCC filing.

As per rumors, the Honami is likely to appear as a follow-up to the company's current flagship the Xperia Z. It will be keeping the same specs of the device except for its camera. Sony had really mentioned in the past that an Xperia Z follow-up would happen later this year. The new FCC leak further shows a confidentiality request letter that puts September 30th as the release date of the Xperia Honami.

The letter requests how "a period up to 2013-09-30 is requested to protect this information before formal market launch." It means that Sony is not going to reveal that handset at IFA 2013, which kicks off on September 6th. The Japan tech maker might have planned to take the device to stores sometime in the fall, after a September 30 release.

The handset in discussion is said to feature a 20MP rear camera as the major selling point. Further, like Xperia Z, it is to come with a 5-inch Full HD display and will get power from a quad core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor that is powered by 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The Sony camera phone may get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and it will offer a 3000mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. It is likely to appear in the dimensions of 144 x 73.9 x 8.3mm. Hopefully, the Sony cameraphone may herald a new experience for the lovers of photography.
