Finally people on Facebook realized that it's not Twitter, hashtags won't work here.

Making use of hastags may prove to be fun strategy for various companies in order to attact the attention of customers, although, it does not seems that it is paying off the companies well, claims a study.

A study conducted by social media analytics proved that the around 20% of Facebook posts among top brands include hashtags in their posts, but there is no evidence that such approach is impacting their engagaement.

Hashtags provide users a way to group messages of similar content.

Researchers have found that posts using the freshly introduced hashtags achieve only as well as those without it, signifying that users are not still finding brand posts by their tags.

The study also revealed that visual content is by far the most significant driving force for engagement on Facebook.

Pictures posted by top brands average more than 9,400 engagements, which include likes, comments and shares, per post, while videos average more than 2,500, reported 'BusinessNewsDaily'.

Researchers said when it comes to text posts; brands have got to walk a fine line.

An analysis of over 500 status updates from the top brands reveals that the longer a status update is, the less engagement it characteristically receives.

On the other hand, if a status update is extremely short, say less than 50 characters, then it may not be long enough to capture viewers' interest or make available the required context to drive the number of likes, shares and comments a company would like.

"For most brands, Facebook is no longer just a network; it has become the hub of their social marketing efforts and one of the most effective ways to engage with fans," said Adam Schoenfeld, CEO of the firm Simply Measured.
