New Delhi: Google's longstanding initiative to provide Internet through a balloon is all set to afloat in the air for more locations and offer access to the World Wide Web to people in remote locations where the basic mode of modern communication is still unavailable.
Project Loon -balloon powered Internet for everyone, is a network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, designed to connect people in rural and remote areas, help fill coverage gaps, and bring people back online after disasters.
The team behind the project has recently put up a behind-the-scenes video showing everything from how it manages its balloon fleet, the balloon creation process to the company's partnership with local LTE network providers abroad, an Engadget report notes.

The latest video posted on Google+ page of the project shows project lead Mike Cassidy providing a glimpse into how the team have been tackling the challenges involved in moving from small scale, one-off launches and tests, to the scale and automation required to make balloon-powered Internet for all a reality.
It focuses on the where the Project Loon is headed to and how it will work. For example, how the team is keeping the Internet balloons up in the air for up to 100 days at a time now, it has also reduced the manufacturing time of the balloons from days to hours and worked to launch many dozens of balloons every day instead of a single vessel.
The project was announced two years back and strives to achieve the goal of pushing Internet signal into areas that can't easily get Internet service in other ways. With increased emphasis on getting basic connectivity in place for modern-day communication, tech giants have been doing their bit to support the cause.
Recently, Facebook introduced its internet.org initiative that aims to provide free access to specific websites under the company's ultimate goal of bringing more people on the Internet.
